Instagram is about aesthetics. A visually designed feed is particularly appealing to new visitors to the profile. The pictures get more likes and new people are always finding their way to their own profile. The following layout variants are just a few suggestions, which primarily serve to make the feed appear more orderly.
There are different feed layouts that you can choose from and fill with your own story and personality. In today’s challenge, we’ll give you a few examples that you can adopt, change or even come up with completely your own layouts.
Consistent line “line in the middle”
However, the line in the middle may have a different color or theme. This layout is perfect if you’re publishing a regular series… quotes, for example.
IMPORTANT: Even if you scroll for a long time, it should be recognizable.
Consistent mood “Moody”
Your content is color coordinated very harmoniously. A constant mood is conveyed and emotionalized. It is perfect to implement this with the right image processing. We have exciting challenge content for you in week 2.
Exciting rainbow “Rainbow”
That’s definitely how you’ll stand out. Your feed looks vibrant and the colors in your feed change as you scroll. The overall picture looks like a rainbow.
“Puzzle”
The merging images make a puzzle feed an eye-catcher. The hardest part of this layout is that every single image, matched to all other images, makes sense. By the way, this layout is very easy to design in Photoshop. More on photo editing in week 2.
Tiles Layout
The most popular way to use tile layout is to post a photo and a quote alternately. The quotes could also be replaced by patterns, colourful patterned textiles, graphic patterns such as diamonds, stripes, large dots in black and white, illustrated prints of flowers, leaves, branches
There are countless creative apps for cool Instagram content here too. We show the top apps you can use to design your content for Instagram.
Small spoiler: All apps are free and you can download them directly and test them yourself. So get creative and pimp your content. Remember, Instagram is a visual platform and people see the image before they decide to read the caption.
Our absolute all-round design tool for my online graphics is Canva. The free tool is the perfect introduction to their own designs, especially for beginners. We find it particularly smart that Canva can be used on both mobile phones and desktops. However, since the desktop version offers more features, we recommend using it on a PC.

- INSHOT
Video content is becoming increasingly popular on Instagram and the new reels make videos must-have content. My favorite mobile video editing app is Inshot. I use it to create all my video content for social media. The free app is easy to use and therefore also suitable for anyone who does not have much previous experience in video editing.

- LIGHTROOM
Today’s smartphones take really great pictures. Nevertheless, you can often get much more out of the photos with little effort in terms of quality. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a professional for photo editing either, just the right app: Lightroom.
Work like a pro with this free app. Lightroom includes everything you need to edit your photos.
What you can create with it:
Lightroom lets you get the most out of your photos and make your images shine. Whether it’s brightness, sharpness, and color corrections, Lightroom has a variety of editing tools.
Bonus: Lightroom also lets you use “presets” (ready-made photo filters) that give your photos a consistent look with a click. You can create them yourself or buy them online. More on this in week 2 of the challenge.
- DESIGNING INSTAGRAM TEXTS WITH PARAGRAPHS: INSTASPACE
You probably know that too: You write a long text for your Instagram posts because you want to add a lot of added value, and then… the layout in the app shatters your text and users can only read a huge amount of text below the Instagram image. There is not (yet) the ability to write beautiful texts with a harmonious Instagram layout in the form of paragraphs in Instagram. But there is now a great app that is free of charge and very easy to use.
What you can create with it:
The social media app “INSTASPACE” helps you design a slightly longer text with paragraphs so that you can create a nice Instagram layout for the user.
